I graduated from Houston Baptist University in 2014 with a B.A. in English and Biblical Languages, and a minor in Latin. As a student, I earned an outstanding achievement award for my studies in English. Upon graduating, I enrolled in graduate school and completed my M.A. in Classical Studies in 2015 from the University of Massachusetts. During my master's studies, I focused primarily on Greco-Roman literature.While I was undergoing my master's degree, I became a teacher's assistant and was able to learn a number of teaching strategies and methods from my professors. I worked with individual students, where I helped them to complete their projects and writing assignments, in addition to helping them prepare for examinations. This opportunity also allowed me to work closely with students who spoke English as a second language, as well as students with various disabilities. As a person who is deaf in one ear, I have insight into how some students come to a university with a disadvantage, be it a disability or language barrier. Having overcome my own struggles and limitations, I strongly believe that one's disability must never inhibit him or her from learning.I am thrilled to help students better their writing and vocabulary skills. I have extensive knowledge in Greek and Latin, which helps me explain the meanings and subtle nuances attached to many English vocabulary words. I believe that education improves one's quality of life, and I genuinely love helping my students flourish academically and professionally.
