I specialize in teaching AP Calculus (AB & BC) and helping students prepare for SAT math. I am a calculus and physics tutor who did very well in many college-level math and physics courses, graduating with honors from The University of Alabama. I also received a 5 on the AP Calculus AB exam. As a mathematics major, I have a great deal of experience in various college-level mathematics and physics subjects. Schools in the United States do an absolutely terrific job of teaching students to hate math, and it’s hard to do well in a subject that you hate. Schools present math as a completely abstract subject that has no relevance to our lives. On top of that, most schools do not even teach the subject in a way that is easy for students to understand. This results in many people struggling with math and having poor grades. Inevitably, students give up in frustration and resort to looking up every answer online, eventually losing confidence in their abilities. I believe that with the right effort and guidance, the average student can excel at undergraduate-level math and science classes. I will help you to see math as a language and problem solving tool, and not as a giant salad of numbers and equations that you have to remember for test day. Although having guidance from an instructor is important, the most important factor in learning math is repetition: “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” I can also tutor mathematics at lower grade levels. 2280 SAT score (old SAT) 710-R 770-M 800-W.
